If your story were true, which I doubt, you should definitely never have kids. Buy a condom, get on the pill, and any other form of birth control you can find. A person who can't afford to get to the hospital to have her baby obviously can't afford to have a baby. A cab fare is what $5? Having a baby costs thousands of dollars.
